THE PROBLEM

Every day, more than 1,100 homeless family members are on the streets of Atlanta.  Over 800 of those are children.  Families are one of the most rapidly growing segments of the homeless population.  While only 1% of the U.S. homeless population consisted of families in 1980, last year their share rose to 36%.  The average age of a homeless person in the U.S. is only 9 years old.

GET INVOLVED

Share our belief that every family should have a safe place to live!  Please accept the challenge to "Sleep Out" and make an impact in the community. By sleeping outside with us for one night and fundraising to support homeless families served by Nicholas House,your leadership will help break generational cycles of poverty and assist families in achieving and maintaining  self-sufficient lives.

To accept the challenge, click the “Join the Campaign” button above.  By signing up, you agree to do your utmost to raise the appropriate level for you listed below:

SINGLE INDIVIDUALS
 Student: $250 (current student ID required)
 Adult: $500

GROUPS
 Couple: $1,000 (2 participants)
 Organization/Company/Group: $2,500 (up to 4 participants)

The default fundraising amount is set for a single adult ($500), but we encourage you to set your fundraising goal to the appropriate level on your page.

All funds raised will support costs associated with providing housing, meals, transportation, workforce development and training, access to medical care, childcare, case management and more for homeless families.  Donations are tax deductible.  Once you have set up your page, a Nicholas House team member will contact you to help with the next steps of fundraising.  

As this is a fundraiser event, those who have signed up to sleep out and who have not raised a minimum of $50 to cover the costs of their participation by 12 pm on Friday, October 5 will be charged $50 via credit or debit card when they check in Friday evening.

Sleep out participants should plan to bring a sleeping bag with them unless they have confirmed that Nicholas House will be able to provide them with a sleeping bag by noon on October 3.  Nicholas House will be able to provide sleeping bags to participants who have not reserved a sleeping bag on a first-come, first-served basis as supplies are limited.
